After growing up in Minnesota and earning a BA in English from Northwestern University, I married my college sweetheart and moved to San Diego. While he pursued a PhD in Neuroscience, I handled communications and event planning for a small, non-profit, trade association. Six years later, the birth of our first child was followed by a move to St. Louis, and my primary focus turned to raising children.

A job opportunity in the Biology department brought our family to Iowa City in 2004. Three kids, volunteering, and part-time work kept me engaged in the community we now love to call home. A few months after our oldest child graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in History, I spotted a job listing in the department and jumped at the opportunity.

After being the home “support staff” for a professor and our students, I am pleased to have become an official Hawkeye.
