Add a minor in history

Students majoring in another discipline—whether in the STEM field, social sciences, or the humanities—may want to round out their studies and sharpen their skills by adding an undergraduate minor in history.

The undergraduate minor in history requires the following:

  • Minimum of 15 semester hours in history courses, including 12 semester hours earned in courses numbered 2000 or above. 
  • At least 12 semester hours must be earned in courses taken at the University of Iowa.
  • Students must maintain a GPA of at least 2.00 in all courses for the minor.
  • Course work in the minor may not be taken pass/nonpass.
