Why do some people vote while others do not? What factors shape political participation and civic engagement?

The Iowa City Foreign Relations Council's Voices Into Votes series presents Who Votes, Who Does Not, and Why? featuring Caroline Tolbert, Professor in the University of Iowa Department of Political Science. Drawing on research in voting behavior and public participation, Tolbert will examine who is most likely to vote, the barriers that can discourage participation, and the broader implications for democracy.

The event is free and open to the public and includes time for audience questions and discussion. Refreshments will be provided.
