DEATH OF A BREWER: Film Trailer Screening & Discussion

DEATH OF A BREWER: Film Trailer Screening & Discussion promotional image

The Old Capitol Museum is partnering with John’s Grocery for the Iowa City Downtown District’s FREE WEEK to present a screening of the trailer for Death of a Brewer, a new historical film partially shot inside the Old Capitol Museum and in various locations around Iowa City during the summer of 2025.

Set in 1880s Iowa City, the film explores the clash between the brewing industry and the temperance movement, drawing on real local events and locations. The trailer screening will be followed by a brief discussion and audience Q&A with members of the film’s creative team, offering behind-the-scenes insight into the filmmaking process and the local history that inspired the story.

This free event is open to all.
